The caterpillars are about 2 cm in length.
Kowhai caterpillars are thin
and green with dark spots.
It is very hard to see a kowhai caterpillar.
They fall off the tree when you shake the branches.
Kowhai caterpillars turn into kowhai moths. The moth has a wingspan of 27mm.
